More Tulips

Tulip Town

We went to the Tulip festival in Skaggit county yesterday! It was a beautiful sunny day (although it is raining again today) and the flowers were beautiful too! WARNING: there are a lot of pictures (although they don't do justice). My mom told me to take lots of pictures so here we go...

There was also an indoor area that had all the tulips labeled so you know what kind they are.

Kaylee had a great time running around the tulip field.

Her favorite part though was playing in the dirt. She was such a mess by the time we left!

Brooke liked the flowers too. She kept grabbing them when we weren't looking and broke a few of them.

BEAUTIFUL! Have you seen enough tulips yet? The real thing was so much better.

• MAKING BREAD

I have been making my own bread for the past few weeks, I just put all the ingredients into the bread maker and let it raise and then I bake it in the oven. (Here is a secret I learned: if you put 1/3 C potato flakes (not pearls) in it makes the bread softer and so yummy). I remember as a child there was a bakery that made rainbow bread. I was always so excited to get rainbow bread. I tried making it myself. It still needs a little work to look the same.

I think white flour instead of wheat would make it look better. Kaylee really liked the colorful bread, and I did too!

With their Easter baskets Saturday morning after the easter bunny came.

We also had an Easter egg hunt with some friends at the park. It was pretty cold and really windy so we didn't stay too long.

I'm pretty sure we came home with more eggs then we took for the egg hunt. Kaylee had a great time. She wanted to eat all the candy right then, and was a little sugar high when she got candy before we could stop her.

This is the best we ended up with. We couldn't do outdoor pictures because it was raining all day.

Spring Break

My family came to visit for my sister's spring break! Kaylee had been so excited since January for their visit and mentioned it everyday. We went to Ivar's on the pier in Seattle when they got here. They got the Seattle experience of driving around for 20 min before we could find a parking space since we didn't want to pay $10 for a hour of parking. Kelli and my dad were excited to try some seafood. Everyone got seafood but me- I'm not really a fan of seafood.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out at our apartment. Brooke wasn't too sure about these new people at first, but by the end she didn't seem to mind them so much. She is still a mommy's girl though.

and of course we watched conference! We rearranged the furniture so we could all see the computer. I was glad the internet worked so well. Last conference we missed at least half of it but this time it worked the whole time. Monday we went to Canada! It was my first time ever leaving the country. (You can go to Canada without a passport until June 1 as long as you have a birth certificate and driver's licence.) We went to the Vancouver Aquarium. It was a 2 hour drive up there but the girls did well. They had some really big fish-bigger than Kaylee.

There were beluga whales and dolphins...and lots of other fish, birds, and even some sloths

Brooke took a little break from the fish, Kaylee would not sit in the car. I put her in one of these rides one time and put money in it and it scared her to death. She doesn't like them now. Family picture with the fish.

Moon Jelly fish- they are so cool to watch. After the aquarium we had a picnic at the park. I didn't really feel like I was on another country, the only thing that was different was the traffic lights. The green lights flashed on and off instead of staying solid green. I don't know what that meant.

We really enjoyed having my family here. Thanks for the good time! Kaylee is now talking about "visit grandma, grandpa when Kevin comes home" (my little brother comes home from his mission in August -just before we move to Texas.)

6 months

Brooke had her 6 month check up on Monday. She is now... 14 lbs 3.5 oz - 15% for age 25 1/4 inches - 30% for age

We have been calling her chubby, she is bigger than Kaylee who was only 5% or below but I guess she really isn't all that big either. It just seems like it when I am carrying her car seat around. Kaylee was so concerned the day we went to the doctor..."No Shots, Doctor not look at Kaylee, Kaylee no naked, no shoots...." on and on and on all morning. At the Dr office she let everyone know -no shots. When the doctor checked Brooke's ears Kaylee put her fingers in her ears so the Dr could not look in them and wouldn't take them out even after he left the room. The nurse had Kaylee leave the room and go blow bubbles in the hallway with another nurse before Brooke got her shots. It's always a good time taking both girls to the doctor. We have been working on potty training with Kaylee. If I make her sit on the potty every hour she'll do it, and then she gets a sticker for her sticker chart (when it is full she gets ice-cream.) She doesn't usually tell me when she has to go so I just have to try and time it right. This morning she actually told me she had to go... I hope this trend will continue.
