Easter

The kids woke up Saturday morning to see what the Easter Bunny brought. Each got a present in their basket and then found candy and eggs around the room,

Emma got new playdough. She loves playing with it.

Austin got a baseball mit.

Brooke got a water bottle.

Kaylee got watercolors.

Emma was an unstoppable candy monster and she was fast. We got her basket away from her and she immediately found the other kids baskets and started eating. 

We went to the Ure's house for brunch and an Easter Egg hunt.

Mia and Ellie are the same age as Kaylee and Brooke.

Emma was once again all over the place. I didn't get to chat with the adults much because I had to keep up with her. You can see her wandering off while I was taking this picture.

Sunday we colored Easter Eggs and watched videos about the resurrection.

By some miracle we were ready early enough to take some pictures before church and were on time!

I made everyone take pictures after church at the temple. I love having the temple right by the church!

Because Christ lives families are forever. I'm so grateful for Him and my family!

After Spring Break

Our A/C unit stopped working and with the cold front that came through and our heater not working the house got pretty chilly. We had to use our fireplace for the first time in a year.

Spring Break

The first few days of spring break were a little rough. The kids were grumpy due to daylight savings sleep deprivation. I took them to the dentist where there were more cavities than I expected (we need to floss!) We also went to the science spectrum to get out of the house. 

Our swing set is built for little kids. Kaylee and Brooke can't swing on it anymore so I bought this tree swing and the girls have been loving it.

Thursday morning we left for our spring break trip to Abilene. This is the lovely scenery around Lubbock.

We stayed in the same KOA cabin we were in 3 years ago when we made the same trip for spring break.

We made it to the campground a hour or so before our friends the Bradshaws so we unpacked and played around.

Once the Bradshaws got there we headed to the zoo. The kids really wanted to do on a train ride. The line was pretty long but the kids were determined to stick it out. We ended up waiting for 30 minutes and had to rush through the rest of the zoo before it closed. We did break the record for the most people in a train car with 12 of us!

The zoo wasn't qutie as good as I remembered. The giraffes weren't out which is what I was most looking forward to.

Back at the camp the kids played and we had dinner.

The adults played games outside after the kids went to bed.

The next day was much colder than the day before and it was dreary and a bit wet all day. We didn't let the weather stop us.  First we went to the National Center Children's Illustrated Literature. There was original artwork to look at and then we got to do our own.

The kids really enjoyed drawing and coloring.

I was quite proud of the panda I drew.

Next we followed a map to find all the storybook character statues in town. The kids thought is was great! I didn't think they would get so into it.

We also played in the bubble fountain.

When we got back to the camp we just chilled for a while in the cabin while the older kids played outside. It was pretty chilly outside.

Emma was all over the place. This girl doesn't stay still. Someone had to follow her every second.

We had dinner that night in the rec. room since it was too cold to be outside.

Although the cold didn't seem to bother the kids. They loved playing in the ravine between the cabins.

We started a fire to roast marshmellows,

The kids finished off the night playing games in the rec room.

The next morning was even colder so after breakfast in the rec room we packed up to go home.

We had a great time with the Bradshaw family.
