Baptism Day

Yesterday Kaylee was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

We were happy to have Grandma (my mom) and Oma and Papa (Jake's parents) here with us.

We got to the church early to take pictures before the baptism. It was a little rainy and kind of cold. It's so nice to have the Lubbock Temple in the same parking lot as our Stake center.

Baptism Day highlights

• There were 6 kids baptized that day and Kaylee was the only girl so she got to go first. 
• Oma gave the talk on baptism
• There was such a sweet spirit as she was baptized and confirmed. 
• Papa took us all out to dinner after the baptism

I made a baptism dress out of cupcakes. It was fun to make and I'm glad it turned out.

Pumpkin Trail

We went to the Lubbock Pumpkin Trail Thursday night. We had a good time taking pictures and checking out pumpkins until the mosquitoes started swarming. It was fun to have Grandma here with us!

It was fun having my mom there with us. I love it when she comes! She is such a great help with the house and the kids. The kids all love having her here to play with.

Invitation

Kaylee will be baptized on  Saturday! 

Bike rider

Kaylee can now ride a 2 wheel bike by herself! It only took a few times of practice and  she got it! 

She probably would have learned much sooner had we given her the chance.

7 Months

Emma is 7 months old!  She is such a mama's girl! She gets the biggest smile on her face and reaches for me when she sees me. I love it. (Although it makes getting things done during the day difficult since she wants me to hold her.)

Emma sits by herself (she still falls pretty easy though).

She pushes up on her hands and knees (She'll be crawling before we know it!)

She LOVES paper and anything that makes a crinkly noise.

She got her hands on daddy's magazine ad had a great time!

She still wakes up at least 3 times each night and I know it's because I get up and nurse her. I need to let her cry but I have a really hard time with that. Emma doesn't just cry, she screams and wakes up the whole family. Some night soon I need to let her cry and then I can sleep again... 

Good thing she's cute.

General Conference

I love General Conference!! It is always such a good weekend! I'll be honest- I didn't hear a lot of conference, or at least not well. One of the four kids was always making noise.

The very last session today I got smart and put some treats in bowls. When the kids heard a key word such as prayer, scriptures, prophet or temple they got to get a treat from the bowl. If they could tell me what the talk was about afterward they got another treat. It was nice to actually be able to hear!

I'm going to have to read the talks to know what most of them said, but here are a few things that I really liked/need from what was said...

• Turn off the TV. The kids need less TV time!
• Scripture study is more important than sleep, homework, school, social media etc. I've been so tired lately that I've been choosing more sleep and less scripture time.
• Keep your body healthy and physically fit to be more self confident. (I've had a hard time exercising at home and have been putting off joining a gym
• Serve others!! Teach my children to serve.

It's so great to have a prophet to tell us what we need to know. I'm excited to read over each talk and learn how I can improve!!

8 is Great!

Kaylee is 8! I can't believe it!  Hopefully she had a good birthday.

I brought doughnuts to her class for her birthday (I took cookies to Brooke's just a few days before for her birthday) and the kids all loved Emma and Austin. Of course they loved the doughnuts too.

We went to dinner at Subway that night for her birthday dinner and she was very patient and waited until we got home to open her presents.

We have now entered the small Lego world. (Hopefully Emma doesn't end up choking on them!!)

We had enough cake and cupcakes already the week before so Kaylee wanted doughnuts instead of cake.

Kaylee is such a sweet, smart girl. She is a great big sister and example to her siblings.She loves to read and color and draw. She is in the jump rope club at school. She will be getting baptized next week!
