Harry Potter Feast

The Oto's invited us over for a Harry Potter Feast in the

Great Hall. The invitation said to come dressed up so we did....

the other adults however did not... We made the most of it and I'm happy we got a picture of our costumes. We've never all dressed the same theme before.

My nieces went all out and made a delicious feast complete with treacle tart.

We planned on going to Boo at the Zoo so the kids got their costumes on. When we got there the parking lot, overflow and streets were filled with cars and people heading to the zoo so we decided to change plans. The kids weren't very happy about it.

We went to the Discovery Center instead. They all had clothes under their costumes except for Kaylee. She was a little embarrassed at first.

I love this picture of Batman hanging on for dear life. He lasted much longer dangling from a cliff than I did.

After the Discovery Center we decided to drive to the top of Table Rock. We read there was a really short hike to the top from the parking lot. We started what we thought was going to get us there but after 1/2 mile or so realized the trial wasn't taking us anywhere.

At least it was kind of pretty.

Finally we found the right spot.... (we turned on the wrong road the first time.)

Nice views of Boise and the Treasure Valley.

It wasn't quite the day we planned but it turned out being fun.

Pumpkin Party

For the past few years we've invited friends over for dinner and to carve pumpkins. This year the Meyet family joined us. They were in our ward in Lubbock.

Carving pumpkins isn't my favorite thing- the guts and sometimes kids whining because they can't do it, so we invite friends over and it makes it more fun.

We used the last of our Texas noodles to share with our Texas friends.

The finished projects. Kaylee and Brooke did theirs all on their own this year.

Meridian Temple

We went to the Meridian temple open house Oct. 26. I had been looking forward to this since I found out we were moving here. The temple and grounds are beautiful. The area surrounding the temple is beautiful too!

I was really hoping my kids would have a really good experience there and remember the great feeling they had in the temple. Instead Brooke complained about the "itchy" foot coverings we had to wear. Emma made me hold her the entire time and threw a fit or two.

This is our second attempt at a picture. Our first attempt had Emma screaming in it.

Although it wasn't quite the experience I hoped for I'm grateful for my family and so happy to have a new temple by us.

The highlight of the trip for the kids was the bus ride from our parking lot to the temple. I hope they also remember the beauty and importance of the temple.

Utah trip- Grnadma's 90th Birthday

On the way to great grandma's birthday party we stopped at Thanksgiving Point. We have a pass that gets us in free so we hit up the Museum of Curiosity, the Farm, and the Museum of Ancient life. The kids love this museum!!

They got to go on a pony ride at the Farm and Emma was in heaven!

The other kids liked it too but Emma would have stayed on the pony all day.

That evening was my grandma's 90th birthday party! My mom and aunts did a fabulous job putting it together!

Grandma Jensen still has an amazing very productive garden so my aunt Angela created this beautiful cake.

There was a slideshow of pictures and some videos of grandchildren and great grandchildren performing for grandma.

All the grandchildren and great grandchildren contributed to give grandma money in her birthday card like she does for us every year $1 for every birthday.

Grandma is a woman of many talents- singing, sewing, gardening.... she works at and attends the temple weekly and went camping in a tent last summer. She stays very active and still has her natural hair color.

Preschool Field Trip

I got to go with Emma on her preschool field trip! We went to a cute little pumpkin patch. It was just the right size for the little ones.

They went on wagon rides, played in the corn box and went through the hay bale maze.

They all got to pick a pumpkin to bring home.

Cascade

Jake's parents own some land up in Cascade so we decided to check it out. We were anticipating cold but not the 2 inches of snow! The kids were so happy!
