January

Most days in January have been gray, cloudy, and gloomy. When we finally got a nice sunny day we went for a walk.

Emma had her last ballet concert. She missed a few weeks because of my job orientation but she still did a great job and loved being on stage.

Austin lost his 4 top teeth. I'm not sure how he's supposed to eat.

We had a young women  activity where we learned how to make bread sticks and spaghetti. Brooke made some on her own at home. It's been different being a Young Women leader to the new group of Young Women. They are all 11 and they just seem and act so young! It's been a little challenging. 

Jake and I went to a hockey game with Jake's company.

It had been a long time since I'd been to a hockey game.

Another weekend outing- to the Nature Center. 

New Year, New Goals

With the new year we set goals- we usually do that anyway but with the new church Children and Youth program we set even more.We made vision/goal boards to attempt to help us visualize and remember our goals. 

The biggest change for the new year is that I got a job in the Wound Care Clinic at St. Alphonsus. I started orientation January 6th- the same day the kids went back to school. Emma stared all day kindergarten and has adjusted well to being at school all day with a new class. 

Orientation was all day for over a week so it was an adjustment for our family. Jake stayed home in the mornings to get the kids to school and they came home and took care of themselves until I got home. Orientation was good and hard at the same time. It was fun meeting new people but it was also a little overwhelming. It was so much to learn and I felt intimidated.  

The first few days in clinic were good. The people I work with are so good and helpful. I felt dumb at times not knowing what to do, or where things are, or how to use the computer. I work 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Fridays so I'm learning a little slower not being there everyday. 

Its' now been a month and a half and I'm feeling more comfortable. There is still a lot to learn but I am working independently now and feeling more confident than I thought I would be at this point. I really like my job- it's a little different everyday. I never thought I would like wound care but it's been rewarding and the hours can't be beat 8:00-4:30.
