Easter Dresses

Since Conference is on Easter Sunday the girls wore their Easter dresses yesterday. Check out the difference in Kaylee's hair. I took a couple of pictures of the girls in their dresses the day before Kaylee cut her hair.

We've been looking for an apartment in Fort Worth for the summer. Not many places do 3 month contracts and the ones that do are usually pretty pricey. I think we may have found one though and luckily Lockheed Martin pays for rent while we are there. Now we just have to figure out what to bring. Last time we did an internship we didn't have kids and we lived like this... We only brought what we could fit in our car which wasn't much. We did end up renting a chair and a bed since I was 9 months pregnant by the time we left. We didn't even have a table until a ward member let us borrow one half way through. This time we have 2 children so we'll have to bring a lot more stuff.

San Antonio

This past week was spring break! It was so nice to have Jake with us all week! We decided to head to San Antonio to visit my cousin and her family during the break. This is what the 6 hour drive looked like... it did get better the farther south we got. The girls did really well on the drive. They only slept about 45 min of the drive both there and back but they were good the rest of the time.

This picture sums up the area of Texas we live in -flat, cotton and windy. There were hundreds of windmills.

We went to the San Antonio zoo. I think everyone had the same idea because the zoo was packed!

Kaylee said this was "grandma fish" (I thought you would like that mom).

That is a turtle behind us if you couldn't tell.

This was the girls favorite part of the Zoo- the river bank play area. Brooke and Kennedy found a fish. The girls would have stayed here the whole time if we let them.

The next day we headed to the Alamo. The Alamo gardens were pretty and green. I kind of felt like I was back in Washington.

The girls had a great time throwing leaves in the fountain. If you notice Kaylee's hair doesn't have a clip in it. She took the clip out and someone asked for the first time if Kaylee and Brooke were brother and sister. I guess that's what happens to little girls with short hair.

In front of the Alamo. I have to admit that we didn't really go in; again everyone else had the idea to go there and the line went down the street and around the corner. We didn't want to go in that bad.

We also went along the famous river walk. It was nice with lots of restaurants down the banks on each side.

We had a great visit and will have to go back when it isn't spring break for the entire state. Thanks for letting us stay with you Kate, Zac and Kennedy!

I don't like it!

So I went to Super Cuts to get Kaylee's hair fixed (see post below) since it was the closest place and wasn't busy and they had a barber cut her hair! I should have just left when I saw he was the only one available but I didn't want to be rude. He had no idea what to do with it and I really don't like the result. I just have to tell myself- it's just hair

AHHHHH!

I think the pictures speak for themselves. I never thought my kid would do this! We've told her only mommy cuts hair. Kaylee was going to the bathroom with the door shut and I guess she got bored. When she came out this is what I found! I don't know how she got the scissors!! Time to go for a haircut!

Ranching Heritage Center

We took advantage of the nice weekend weather and went to the Ranching Heritage Center on Texas Tech's campus. They have over 40 restored buildings from the 1800's and up. They were really interesting to look at, but I sure am glad I live in a day with indoor plumbing and electricity!

The Winner is...

Well, I'm happy to tell you we have decided to go with the Lockheed Martin internship in Fort Worth, Texas. There were more advantages for us in Texas than Iowa. Houses cost less, plane tickets to Utah are less, I have cousins within driving distance, the winters are much warmer, we already have Texas license plates and the temple is much closer. (Iowa would have been a 3 hour drive to Nauvoo.) It's nice to have things finally decided. Fort Worth here we come...in 3-4 more months.
