Camping

Friday was Jake's day off so we decided to beat the memorial day rush and go camping! We hadn't been camping since we lived in Washington. 

We went to Turner Falls, Oklahoma. They have great swimming areas. This one has a waterfall. It's actually the tallest waterfall in Oklahoma (77ft) in the Arbuckle "mountains" (they looked more like hills to me, but I guess it makes them feel good to call them mountains.)

It was a beautiful sunny day! There also were  not many people there yet, which was nice.

Kaylee and Brooke were loving the sand! They could have stayed here all day long. We miss living by the beach!

                                        We also did a little swimming. 

Our camping trip got off to a rough start. When we got out to look for a place to camp, Kaylee went and stood on top of a fire ant mound. She started screaming loud enough to alert the whole campground! Jake went and pulled her off it and got a lot of ant bites himself. I had to strip Kaylee down right there in the open. There were ants in her shoes, up her shirt and down her underwear. Her poor little bottom had bites all over it! She was terrified of ants the rest of the trip. We finally found an ant free and best of all secluded place to camp (everyone else was in the same area right next to each other.)

It was a little squishy with all of us in the tent and no one slept very well. It was very windy...(the song " Oooooo-k-lahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains" kept coming to mind). The tent was really shaking in the wind. At one point during the night I heard Kaylee whisper "Daddy is a tornado coming?"  

The next day we went and explored the castle. It was actually a summer home built in the 1930's. It's a little run down now.

Then we went to the other swimming area- complete with slides and diving boards. We got a little more sand and water time in before lunch. By that point it was starting to get really crowded so we ate lunch and headed home. Brooke fell asleep within the first 5 minutes and slept the whole way home. She never sleeps in the car, so we really wore her out.

We had a good time. The girls want to go again and I do too.  We just need to get a bigger tent so we can sleep at night!

Coming this December....

I'm sure many of you have been waiting for this announcement. We are happy to say baby #3 is on the way!

Originally we thought the due date would be Dec 17 . The ultra sound put the due date at Dec 23 and then for some reason as I was leaving the office the dr said that my official due date would be Dec. 26. I'll have to ask her about that next time. We know for sure that we won't be going to Utah for Christmas this year!

Kaylee and Brooke have already decided if the baby is a girl her name will be Mulan. Jake agrees with them. We'll just hope for a boy. :)

It's been a while since I posted. I guess it is about time for an update. There will be no pictures though since I just realized I haven't taken any pictures since Easter.

We've just been hanging out at home, or the zoo, or with some friends. We had a couple weeks of thunderstorms and had tornado watches almost everyday for awhile. We had tornadoes north, south and east of us but luckily nothing here.

A few weeks ago I went to the dermatologist and had a mole removed. The biopsy came back abnormal. I had to go back in last week and have a small chunk of my leg removed. I was watching the Dr cut my leg and I was doing ok until she started cauterizing (burning the blood vessels so they would stop bleeding) and the smell of burning flesh got to me. I started getting light headed so they had to lay me down. I guess I can't be an O.R. nurse. My mole wasn't cancer thank goodness, but it had the potential to be, so they took all the skin tissue in the area and my leg is stitched up for another week. I didn't know until this experience that there was a history of skin cancer in my family.

My friend posted this video (she recently found out she does have skin cancer) and I really like it. It's a good reminder....WEAR SUNSCREEN!
