Farewell Fort Worth

 

I went to dinner tonight for the last time with some of my friends here in Fort Worth. We have had some really great friends here and will be so sad to leave them behind!  I have such mixed feelings about moving.

 

We went to the zoo for the last time on Monday and I realized how sad I am we are leaving Fort Worth. We'll miss the museums, the zoo, Granbury lake beach, the spring wildflowers and green plants (Lubbock is pretty brown) and most of all the people! We have been here for 3 1/2 years - it's the longest we've lived anywhere (we've been in our current house 20 months which is another record.)

 

I am excited to move to be settled in one place for a while (3 1/2- 4 years) with out moving! I'm excited that we finally bought a house (now let's hope there is no major house problems.) I am SO excited to have a temple 10 minutes from our house!!! It will be so much easier to go now. I'm happy that Jake will be pursing something he enjoys.

 

We are nervous to go back to the poor student days with 3 kids, but people have done it before us. Lubbock is supposed to be a very family friendly community so we'll hope for the best. So here's to Lubbock. I hope we find as good of friends there as we did here!

4th of July

 

 We started out our Independence day with a kid's bike parade. There were not any parade's around our area so we had to do our own.

The kids decorated their bikes and rode down the street while the parents threw confetti.

After the parade we went with our friends the Smathers to the base where they had a family fun activity. There were water slides and bounce houses.

The kids would splash water out at the end of the side so I kept going near the end to get wet to cool off

Later we went to the Plummer's ranch for a barbecue and swimming. The water was pretty cold but that didn't stop the kids from enjoying it. I couldn't get Kaylee out when it was time to leave.

 

After taking the kids home for a bath we headed over to the Smathers' house to watch fireworks. We could see 2 different fire work shows behind their house. I think the kids were more excited about the glow sticks I brought for them than the fireworks. The kids all crashed on the way home.

We went and toured the fire station for playgroup. The kids had great time climbing in all the fire trucks. Brooke wouldn't get in any of them though. She was a little scared of them.

Jake's Birthday

 Jake's birthday was 3 days after he had surgery. He was in a lot of pain and pretty much stayed in bed all day.... not a fun birthday.  He was able to get up long enough to eat his birthday coconut cream pie.

 He had to go lay down before opening his present. Hopefully his next birthday is a lot better.

I felt like I was taking care of an old man the first few days after surgery. I had to help Jake out of bed and help him walk to the bathroom. We were up every 4 hours during the night to get him his pain pills, he ate all his meals in bed and really couldn't move much. It was hard to see him in so much pain. We are now 2 weeks post surgery and he is doing much better, still a little sore though.
