9 months old

Brooke is 9 months old already! Time flies. I can finally put her hair up in a little pony tail. I'm not sure if it is cute or looks funny.

She had her check up yesterday and she is...

15 lbs 14 oz (6%)

27 inches tall (30%)

She has been pulling herself up for a few weeks now and LOVES to hold onto our fingers and walk. She would do it all day long if we'd let her. Maybe she'll learn to walk herself soon and reduce the stress on our backs!

Birthday Boy...

Wednesday was Jake's birthday! I made him Spumoni Cake - it was a family favorite when he was growing up. The frosting is all different flavors. It's pretty good! We didn't do much exciting for his birthday, just the usual presents and cake and ice-cream. We are in charge of the ward party today so after Jake's party we went and got supplies for the ward party.
Jake's birthday also happened to be the lowest tide of the year so we headed to Mukilteo Beach to check it out while Jake was at work. It was really neat and there were marine biologists from WSU to tell us all about what we were seeing. Did you know starfish have an eye at the end of each arm? I didn't either! Kaylee was so wet and sandy by the time we left. We sure are going to miss the beach when we move....

Weekend Fun

We decided to go to the Pacific Science Center this weekend. We don't have much longer left in Washington so we are going to try and get out every weekend. We had a good time although it is a better place for kids a little older, they did have a toddler play place that Kaylee didn't want to leave. Brooke's favorite was the butterfly house. She was trying to touch the flowers and butterflies the whole time. Kaylee wore herself out and slept the whole way home...
I gave Kaylee a haircut on Friday night. The middle picture shows how long her hair was. I liked it long, but it kept getting in her food and was always tangled and she would cry when I brushed it so I decided it wasn't worth it. Jake read her a story while I cut it. It is a little uneven since she wouldn't sit very still. She got ice-cream for being a good girl.

Lake Tahoe

We just got back from Lake Tahoe and the annual Williams' Family vacation. We had a great time hiking, swimming and playing at the beach. Jake even got to go biking (which he had not done for years). I think the 35 mile bike ride almost did him in, but he did it! (I know I couldn't have.) We really enjoyed being with our family. Jake's family is pretty spread out so it is always good to get together. Kaylee LOVES her cousins and had so much fun playing with them that she wanted to go home with them.
I think you are supposed to come back from vacation well rested. We were definitely more tired. The girls didn't get many naps, Brooke kept waking up at night, and they both woke up too early! They were good though despite the lack of sleep and we had a great time!

Reclaiming my Room!

Recently Jake decided it was time to put the girls in the same room. I was very skeptical but thought we should give it a try. Yesterday I moved Brooke's crib into Kaylee's room. I was expecting the worst but surprise surprise -they actually both slept and didn't wake each other up until about 5:45- Brooke was singing and Kaylee (we did have to put her in a pack n' play cause she wouldn't stay in her bed) has taken off her pants and diaper and said she needed to go potty (and she did!) I was so happy things went well. One day down! They both eventually went back to sleep for another hour. It was so wonderful to have our room back. I don't know that last time we've been able to go in there and talk past 6:00 at night (Brooke's bed time). Sleeping in my own bed was also great! These cute pictures were taken by my friend Mackenzie at our Memorial day BBQ. I forgot to mention Brooke started crawling last week! Now I really have to watch her!
