Recently

Brooke started preschool two weeks ago and she LOVES it! Her favorite part is tumbling time. A teacher from a local gymnastics place comes to teach the kids. They also have Spanish lessons and music time. It's been great. One thing I wasn't so excited about is nap time. They have a one hour nap time. I told Brooke's teacher that Brooke never naps at home. I figured Brooke would just be bored laying there for an hour. I went to pick her up the first day and she was dead asleep. I had a hard time waking her up!

My birthday was last week. It was a good day! I went out to lunch with some friends a French Cafe called La Madeleine. It was so good! Later I went to get ice cream with some other friends. Of course I also had cake and ice cream with the family. I was trying to sneak a little bit to Austin, but Jake caught us on camera. I got a new sewing machine for my birthday so I am going to learn how to sew!

Kaylee did her own hair

This one makes me laugh -Austin trying a popsicle for the first time... the cold really surprised him. He did want a second bite though.

This boy is crawling all over the place! His favorite thing lately is to crawl over to the outlets and unplug thing, and then he tries to plug it back in. I am constantly pulling him away from the outlet.

He also pulls himself up on whatever he can. (Look we finally got him some boy toys-no more wands and crowns for him!) He is getting so big! Tomorrow he is officially 9 months. I need to take his official 9 month picture but I may or may not have messed up his hair while trying to trim a little that was growing over his ears (have you ever tried to cut a baby's hair?) Maybe it will look better in the morning?

The First Week

Just a little update about the first week of school. Kaylee loved it! The highlights of the week were...
  • They found a tarantula in her classroom on the first day- the principal had to come in and catch it
  • She tried school lunch for the first time (chili mac) - "I didn't really like it"- but then requested school lunch again the next day which she did like (cheese burger.)
  • One day I asked her who she played with at recess and if she like it. She said "it's ok, but there are so many kids, I didn't know who to play with." She is shy and just played by herself. That made me so sad! I prayed that night that she would have friends to play with. The next day a boy from our ward, Rendon, came up to her and asked her to play. They had some other kids ask to join them as well. Prayers are answered!!!
  • The drop off/ pick up lines are crazy! I decided to park a block away and walk with her up to the school. Austin really likes the walk.
  • We got the Kindergarten Weekly News. It said to practice at home writing your name and counting to 10. Really? Are there really kindergartners who don't know how to count to 10? Kaylee can read and do simple math. Hopefully they can do something a little more challenging soon.
Brooke had a harder week. She is used to having her sister to play with all day. She followed me around all day wanting me to play with her every second. To be honest, she was driving me nuts! I'm so glad preschool is starting this week! She is excited as well.
